Order of Mary Ward Award 2011
This annual prestigious Loretto Alumnae award, named in honour of the IBVM foundress, is given to individuals who embody Mary Ward's vision that "women in time to come will do much". Recipients serve as role models for young women, having contributed to the spiritual well being of others through their ministry, community and involvement in issues of social justice.
The 2011 Order of Mary Ward ceremony will take place on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 7pm at Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary School. Nominations are now closed.
2011 Annual Tea and Mass
On Sunday, May 29, 2011 the Loretto Alumnae Association hosted its annual Mass and Tea. The day began with mass in the Loretto Abbey Chapel. After Mass, the group moved to the Senior Cafeteria for some refreshments, fellowship and of course, fun! As always the event was well attended. A thank you goes to all Alumnae, friends and family that were present to share in the day.
Directions to the school: Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary School is located at 101 Mason Blvd, south of Wilson Ave. and west of Yonge St. The parking lot is located off of McGlashan. Entrance to the school is accessible from the parking lot. Please do not use the circular drive (or entrance from there) as this belongs to the convent. If arriving via the TTC, the entrance to the school is located at the corner of Mason Blvd and McGlashan Rd. View Larger Map Loretto Alumnae Awards Each year the Loretto Alumnae Executive Committee distributes awards to graduate students at Loretto Abbey and Loretto College Schools. The awards include: Mother St. Margaret Kelly Educational Award $500 scholarship awarded to an outstanding student intending to pursue post-secondary education, who demonstrates outstanding achievement in both academic and extra-curricular activities. The 2011 recipient is Ellen Gillies. Mother Irma Long Award $100 This award is presented to a student who has demonstrated outstanding school spirit through exceptional participation in school activities. The 2011 recipient is Jenny Lee. Sister Pauline Wilson Award $500 This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student who has demonstrated high academic achievement and intends to pursue a post-secondary education. The award alternates between Loretto Abbey and Loretto College graduates. Loretto Alumnae Award $100 The recipient of this award is selected by her peers for best exemplifying the spirit of Loretto: leadership, loyalty and integrity. The 2011 recipient is Alessandra Bergeron. |
