We are pleased to announce that this years' Mary Ward Award recipient is Dr. Laura Dawson.

Dr.  Dawson is a Full Professor the Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Toronto.  She is also a clinician-scientist and practicing radiation oncologist at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto.  She is an internationally recognized leader in hepatobiliary and liver metastases radiation therapy and in the use of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for oligometastases. 

She is principal investigator of many clinical trials, including RTOG1112 which is the first phase III study of SBRT for hepatocellular carcinoma.  She is a member of the NIH funded hepatobiliary taskforce and the NRG gastrointestinal cancer steering committee.  She has published over 100 scientific papers, mostly related to liver cancer radiation therapy.  She has been a speaker at many international oncology meetings, and has received numerous grants and honors related to her research.
Laura (Davison) Dawson graduated from Loretto Abbey in 1987 and was the first Loretto girl to complete the 5 year programme in 4 years.
